The fund manager

Chord Capital Ltd is the fund manager of the Cascade Fund. We manage other venture capital funds and invest in technology-based opportunities to provide both early stage and development funding, with a particular emphasis on exploiting intellectual property and early commercialisation of new technologies. We invest across a wide range of technologies where we can bring commercial, technical and financial experience. Chord Capital is authorised and regulated by the Financial Services Authority.

We help to develop technologies both internally and through external collaborations with partners, to the stage where they can generate licence revenue or be transferred to a new business. This activity, which combines the complementary skills within Chord Capital, can help to create early licence income or provide impetus to increased value through growth.

Chord Capital is an active investor and we often provide a non-executive director to the investee companies. We invest in several ways, which might be through:

•  traditional funding rounds

•  support for licensing of new technologies

•  support for the commercialisation of projects

Chord Capital is an independent company with links to a wide range of collaborative partners to provide access to new funds, corporate finance skills, specialist technology development services and corporate development expertise.
