Competitive advantage
The competitive
advantage your Intellectual
Property Right has is often only realised once it is in use via
a product or service. However, there are various indicators that investors
use to gauge this, including, but not limited to:
- Depth of Research - know-how can be as valuable as
a patent.
Being able to demonstrate that you have years of research experience
in your field under your belt is often seen as a competitive advantage.
- Is your technology the only way of solving a problem
or is it an alternative method for addressing a problem?
- Does your technology have multiple applications (often
called a Platform Technology)? Can it be used to solve one problem or
many?
- What is your Unique
Selling Point (USP)? What makes your product different to others
on the market? What advantages does your technology offer?
