How much can I get and what can I use it for?

The Cascade Fund operates two categories of investment:

Stimulus funding of up to £30,000

Growth funding of up to £250,000, although a larger investment may be possible if another institution co-invests

Stimulus Funding

Stimulus investments will be the following areas:

  • Proof of principle
  • Proof of concept
  • Prototyping and early product development
  • Patenting and other professional fees including incorporation costs or legal and other costs relating to licence agreements

Growth Funding

Growth investments include all the areas covered by the Stimulus category and provide for the project to move to company formation and launch. Typically sufficient funds will be provided to enable the new business to make progress to attract second stage finance.

Joint ventures between Cascade partner universities are particularly encouraged, as are joint ventures with external organisations.

Also eligible are the development and establishment of high level and complex licensing initiatives.
